The best thing you can do with grief is bring it somewhere it can do some good.
Our family has been showing up to AFSP events since 2009. Every walk. Every car show. Every year. Not because it was easy. Because it was the thing that held us together when nothing else could.
Volunteers are the people who make this work. They park cars, set up chairs, hand out water, and stay until everything is cleaned up. They also talk to the person standing alone at the edge of the crowd who does not know why they came, and make sure they feel like they were supposed to be there.
That is what Brittany would have done. That is what we are trying to carry forward.
